Town of Erin community service staff are excited to announce that the skating rink at Centre 2000 will be re-opened to user groups starting on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
The Centre 2000 building has undergone significant renovations, including an overhaul of the HVAC system, updates to the front lobby and a complete renovation of the Shamrock Room upstairs.
“We are incredibly pleased with the updates to the arena and the Shamrock Room. The Shamrock Room, in particular, has been transformed into a bright, clean space that we can utilize for expanded community programming,” said Jennifer McPetrie, Erin’s Director of Community Services. “These enhancements are exciting and will significantly improve our ability to serve the community.”
Public skating will resume at the Erin Community Centre when renovations to the washroom facilities in the main lobby are finished.
In the meantime, athletes and user group members are welcome to use the changeroom washrooms or in the Centre 2000 lobby by the Theatre.
Users will notice fresh netting across the ceiling of the rink, as well as new flooring and paint in the front lobby.
This $2.9 million project was supported by a $1.9 million federal grant by the Canada Infrastructure Program in addition to funding from the Centre 2000 Capital Reserve, the Safe Restart COVID-19 grant, and taxation.
Public skating is available at the Hillsburgh Community Centre and will commence at the Erin rink later this season.
Please note that all recreation facilities will be closing early on Christmas Eve, and will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
