The Town of Erin is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Kavanagh to the position of Director of Infrastructure Services and Town Engineer effective July 2.
During Kavanagh’s 25-year career he has proven himself as a leader in delivering design, construction, operations, and maintenance services for a growing GTA municipality and for large-scale Provincial P3 projects.
Kavanagh most recently served as the Director of Public Works for the Town of Stouffville, where he was responsible for roads, bridges, and sewer and water systems. Previously during a tenure at the Ontario Public Service, he managed several public-private partnership projects, including delivering large-scale healthcare and corrections infrastructure development projects ranging in value from $100 million to $1.2 billion.

Kavanagh has proven experience leading large teams and has completed the Association of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario (AMCTO)) Municipal Administration program and achieved a Certified Municipal Officer designation.
As Erin’s Director of Infrastructure Services and Town Engineer, Kavanagh will be at the helm of managing the administration of the Town’s infrastructure functions. This includes overseeing the completion of the Town’s $300 million Wastewater Treatment Facility, the development of new water and sewer linear works through downtown Erin, the establishment of linear sewer and water infrastructure on the rail trail to connect residential developments in the community of Hillsburgh, and the construction of new wells and water towers to support Erin’s prosperity, one of Canada's fastest-growing communities.
Kavanagh completed a Bachelor of Engineering and Management, Honours Civil Engineering from McMaster University, and holds a Professional Engineering licence. In his free time, he enjoys camping, sports and travelling with his wife and three children.
