Erin holds youth art competition for National Public Works Week

Date: Apr 18, 2024

Students in Grades 1 to 6 invited to draw a picture to celebrate public works staff

The Town of Erin is inviting local youth to take part in an art contest ahead of National Public Works Week May 19 to 25.

In advance of Erin’s annual Touch-A-Truck event held on May 25 at Town Hall, staff want youth art submissions from students in Grades 1 to 6, celebrating public works and what they do to maintain the Town.

The best drawing will be featured at the Touch-A-Truck event and the winning artist will receive two tickets to Canada’s Wonderland.

“Our public works staff are outside year round, plowing snow, grading roads and keeping our community clean,” said Chris Vernon, Senior Communications Officer with the Town of Erin. “Help us celebrate them with your best drawing of the hard work they do.”

The annual Touch-A-Truck event is an opportunity for children to meet public works staff and see vehicles, and even sit inside big trucks and equipment May 25 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Drop off drawings at Town Hall or email digital copies to communications@erin.ca by April 30.
