It’s an opportunity to see how local government works, shadow the Mayor at a council meeting, and even make an impact in your community.
The Town of Erin is seeking student submissions for the next “Mayor for a Day” contest.
High school students in Grades 9-12, living or studying in Erin, are invited to apply by submitting either a short essay (750-word maximum) or YouTube video answering one of two questions.
Why do you want to be Mayor for the Day?
Or
What two ideas, either programs or policies, do you have to improve our town?
The winner will be selected by a panel of judges and invited to Erin Town Hall for a day touring the town and meeting staff members. They will even have a chance to sit in on a council meeting.
“Being Mayor for a Day is an incredible opportunity for Erin teens to engage with their local government,” said Chris Vernon, Erin’s Senior Communications Officer.
The challenge is open until Dec. 15.
Submissions will be accepted online through a form on the Town of Erin website: https://www.erin.ca/living-here/events/mayor-for-a-day/mayor-for-a-day-form
