News Release: Town of Erin Issues Burn Ban

The Town of Erin has made the decision to prohibit open air burning with the Town of Erin. A Burning Ban in now in effect and will remain until further notice. 

Open air burning includes bonfires, campfires, burn barrels, outdoor fireplaces/ chimineas or any other fire in open air. 

During this time, burn permits will continue to be issues, however it is important that you abide by the burn ban until the prohibition of open air fires is lifted. Failing to abide by the open air burn ban will result in enforcement activities by the Town of Erin, which could result in a fine of up to $250.00 plus the costs associated with Emergency Response.

Burn bans are posted on the Town of Erin website at www.erin.ca, social media, and published in local newspapers. Prior to burning, please contact the Town Office at 519.855.4407 or email fire@erin.ca Monday to Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm (except holidays) to confirm whether or not there is a burning ban in place. 

During a burning ban, all burn permits, oversized burn permits, and fireworks permits are suspended. For burning complaints, please contact the fire NON-EMERGENCY number at 519.824.3232.
