[Erin, Ontario] – The Ontario government has exciting news for the residents of the Town of Erin! As part of a massive $325 million investment in critical water infrastructure projects across the Province, Erin is receiving $29,473,750 through the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF). This investment is aimed at building, repairing, rehabilitating, and expanding the essential drinking water and wastewater infrastructure within the Town.
This funding is a part of the second intake of HEWSF, supporting 23 water infrastructure projects across Ontario, and paving the way for up to 107,000 new homes in the Province. The focus in Erin is on upgrading water and wastewater infrastructure to provide urban residents in Erin with access to reliable curbside water and wastewater connections. This will transform properties currently dependent on septic and holding tanks, particularly in commercial, residential, and industrial areas, leading to significant improvements in the quality of life for residents.
Town of Erin Mayor Michael Dehn shared his enthusiasm, stating, “This investment is a game-changer for our community. It ensures reliable and modern water and wastewater infrastructure for our residents and supports the growth and development of our Town. We are grateful for the Provincial support and look forward to seeing these projects come to fruition. I would also like to thank Town Staff, our committed Council for their dedication and focus to get us where we are with this grant and MPP Ted Arnott for his tremendous assistance and support in navigating and connecting the Town’s team with the Provincial government’s team.”
