Town of Erin awards tender for construction of wastewater treatment plant
ERIN, ON: The Town of Erin Council today gave approval to award the construction of the wastewater treatment plant to North America Construction Ltd., a highly qualified and experienced local contractor. The bid, which was issued in December 2021 to the five pre-qualified contractors, closed on March 18 with two bids: North America Construction (1993) Ltd., and Bennett Mechanical Installations (2001) Ltd.
The bids were analyzed by WSP, the Town’s consulting team on the wastewater project, in terms of ability to deliver a highly technical construction project to a high degree of quality and professionalism and value for money. Both bidders are very qualified and experienced local contractors. North America Construction’s bid of $114 million was the lowest and was recommended for the award.

While this is the largest ever project tendered by the Town of Erin, there are no cost implications for residents as the construction of the Water Resource Recovery Facility (wastewater treatment plant), is being paid for by the development community. See financial agreements here.
Quotes
This project has been in the making for a very long time and I am delighted to see it move forward. This is the single largest infrastructure project ever undertaken by the Town. While growth is inevitable as mandated by the Province, this is a key infrastructure project that will help us grow in a sustainable and responsible manner.

This was a highly technical and stringent tender and we are satisfied with the quality of bids received. We have the best qualified and experienced company. That they happen to be a local company, is an added bonus. The process was not easy and extremely time-consuming as we had to clarify numerous technical details. But we wanted to get it right and are now happy to be able to move on to the next stage of the project.
