Erin Town Hall will open to the public on February 22.
To ensure the safety and well-being of residents, a number of safety precautions will continue to be in place. Masks will continue to be required, sanitizing stations will be available and anybody looking for in-person service will be required to fill out a COVID19 questionnaire before entering our facility.
To make this process convenient and safe – the questionnaire can be filled in at home online or by scanning the QR code available at the entrance of our facilities. The QR code will lead directly to the questionnaire and as soon as it is filled in and submitted, an email confirmation will be sent. Important to note: this email confirmation has to be shown to staff before accessing any service. This is necessary to ensure that everyone is safe.
Council Meetings, however, will continue as is. It will be live streamed and recordings will be posted online. It will not be open to the public at this moment due to space constraints and safety restrictions.
Residents are encouraged to continue using online and phone options from the comfort of their homes to access services and to limit the number of people within Town facilities as per Provincial requirements.

The Town of Erin is opening its facilities and Town Hall to public starting September 7.
To ensure the safety and well-being of residents, a number of safety precautions will be in place. Masks will continue to be required, sanitizing stations will be available and anybody looking for in-person service will be required to fill out a COVID19 questionnaire before entering our facility.

With the Province-wide stay-at-home orders in effect from April 8, 2021, Erin Town Hall remains closed to the public. The Town of Erin is continuing to closely monitor the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation and adapting, while ensuring the safety of residents and staff remain a top priority. Town staff are continuing to work to provide residents with service excellence.
During closure, the Town will continue to offer essential municipal services, and ensure the needs of the community are continuing to be met.

In light of the latest restrictions by the Province of Ontario and the growing health concerns, Erin Town Hall will close to public starting 4:30 pm April 1, 2021 until further notice. Staff will continue to conduct business and will be available via email at customerservice@erin.ca or by phone at 519.855.4407.

The Town of Erin is committed to the health and safety of its employees and the community. We are continuing to closely monitor the evolving COVID-19 situation and make necessary decisions to reduce the spread of the virus and protect the public.
With the growing health concerns, and out of an abundance of caution, all municipal facilities, including Town Hall and recreational facilities, will be closed to public access effective 8:30 a.m. Saturday, December 26th, 2020 until Monday, January 25th, 2021. All recreation drop-in programs, services and rentals are cancelled at Erin Community Centre, Hillsburgh Community Centre and Ballinafad Community Centre. Staff will be in contact with all facility rental holders to cancel, re-schedule or refund the bookings, please be patient as staff work through contacting each rental holder.

Effective Monday, November 16, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health will be moved to the ORANGE (Restrict) level, as outlined in the provincial COVID-19 Response Framework: Keeping Ontario Safe and Open.

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health has developed guidance for Halloween and Remembrance Day.
Halloween:
Trick or treating is less of a concern than Halloween gatherings. In general-for now- Public Health thinks it is safe to trick or treat, with precautions, but discourage Halloween parties.
- Restrict close contact to only those you live with
- Practice physical distancing of six feet with anyone you don't live with
- Wear a face covering, while trick-or-treating and when handing out candy (note: a Halloween costume mask is not a substitute for a face covering)
- Practice good hand hygiene
- Download the COVID-19 Alert App
- Make treats available separately to reduce multiple people handling the same candy, and consider using tongs or other similar tools to hand out treats
- Stay home if feeling ill or if you have mild symptoms
- Any organized public event or gatherings must adhere to the measures and restrictions outlined in O. Reg 364/20, including gathering limits
Remembrance Day
Honouring the memory of those who served and continue to serve in Canada's armed forces is important to all of us. Public Health supports observance of Remembrance Day this year with the following changes:
- Consider hosting a virtual services, if possible, as an option with the lowest risk of virus transmission
- For in-person events, adhere to public health direction:
- Restrict close contact to only those you live with
- Practice physical distancing of six feet with anyone you don't live with
- Wear a face covering
- Practice good hand hygiene
- Download the COVID-19 Alert App
- Choose outdoor observances instead of indoor ones
- Stay home if you have symptoms, even if mild
- Any organized public events or gatherings must adhere to the measures and restrictions outlined in O. Reg 364/20 including gathering limits
Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health is monitoring community spread and positive cases of COVID-19 in our communities and will adjust advice if a rise in cases warrants more precautions.

Ontario limits the size of unmonitored and private social gatherings across entire province. The new limit on the number of people allowed to attend an unmonitored private social gathering across the province is:
- 10 people at an indoor event or gathering (previous limit of 50); or
- 25 people at an outdoor event or gathering (previous limit of 100).

Cases of COVID-19 are rising at increasing rates in Wellington Dufferin Guelph. In response, Dr. Nicola Mercer, Medical Officer of Health for Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health is updating the Section 22 Order on mandatory face coverings.

- Banquet halls, convention centres and other event spaces
- Galleries
- Museums
- Private transportation (bus/taxi/limo/rideshare)

We are pleased to announce that effective Wednesday, July 22nd, 2020 all Town of Erin facilities will be opening to the public; this includes Town Hall and recreational facilities and playgrounds.
Upon entering Town of Erin facilities, please be advised that face covering are mandatory as per section 22 of Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health's class order and physical distancing measures have been put in place. Upon entering the building, patrons will be asked to wear a face covering, sanitize their hands and fill out a self-assessment questionnaire - confirming you are not currently experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms.

The County of Wellington, and 23 other Public Health Unit Regions will be allowed to move into Stage 3 on Friday, July 17, 2020.
Stage 3 will allow for an increase in gathering limits:
- Indoor gathering limits will increase to a maximum of 50 people;
- Outdoor gathering limits will increase to a maximum of 100 people;
- Gathering limits are subject to physical distancing requirements.

Following the recent announcement from the Province, allowing select regions to move into Stage Two of their plan to restart the economy, the Town of Erin along with the rest of Wellington County, Dufferin and Guelph are preparing for these changes to come into effect tomorrow. In preparation for this, Dr. Nicola Mercer, Medical Officer of Health for Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Health unit has ordered that any customer, patron, employee or visitor, who enters a commercial establishment is required to wear a face covering or mask.

In addition to Monday’s announcement from the provincial government, Dr. Nicola Mercer, Medical Officer of Health for Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph, is issuing an order under Section 22 of the Health Protection and Promotion Act to ensure our region is able to safely move to Phase 2.
The order requires all persons who own or operate a Commercial Establishment in the jurisdiction of the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Health Unit to:
Prohibit Persons from entering the premises of the Commercial Establishment or remaining in the premises if the said Person is not wearing a Face Covering. The Face Covering must be worn inside the Establishment at all times, unless it is reasonably required to temporarily remove the Face Covering for services provided by the Establishment.

Due to the ongoing threat of COVID-19 and following the Provincial and public health directives, the Town of Erin has made the decision to cancel town-run summer camps for the summer of 2020.
Staff will be in contact with residents to issue refunds in the coming weeks, please be patient as we work through each refund. Residents should expect to receive a refund or credit on account by July 6, 2020.

The Town of Erin is working towards opening some outdoor amenities for Monday, May 25, 2020, while maintaining provincial orders and following the directions of public health.
What's Opening:
The following amenities will be reopening under new provincial COVID-19 safety protocols, requiring two metre distancing during use and no groups of more than five, other than members of the same household:
•Publicly accessible multi-use sports fields, including soccer fields and baseball diamonds are open to individuals and for casual play
•Tennis courts can be used with protocols and guidelines for club member use only
•Picnic tables, benches and shelters
•BMX/ Skate Park

Today, the Ontario government announced the retailers, seasonal businesses and health and community service providers who will be permitted to open or expand their services on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at 12:01 a.m., provided that the general trend on health indicators continues to improve as part of the first stage of the government's reopening framework. The workplaces opening as part this stage are well-positioned to put workplace safety measures in place and get more people back to work, while not overburdening public transit and other services.

Following advice from Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health, as of 12:01 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2020, certain businesses and workplaces may reopen as long as they comply with strict public health measures and operate safely during the COVID-19 outbreak. Businesses that are not identified on this list must keep their physical place of business closed.
The Town's Regular Council Meeting on May 5, 2020 at 1:00 PM will take place as a physical distancing meeting. The public is encouraged to participate by viewing the livestream.

At today’s County Council meeting, Council approved (upon consultation with all seven member municipalities), that the minimum tax rebate amount for low income seniors and low income persons with disabilities be increased from $200 to $400 to provide additional financial assistance during this time.

It has been nearly a month since we have all been instructed to avoid social interactions and only leave the house for essential purposes. In that time, there have been daily COVID-19 news updates and lots of frightening posts circulating on social media. As a way to stay connected with residents, Mayor Alls has filmed a video to reassure the community that we are in this together. We have also launched a positive social media challenge and are asking residents to share their favourite social distancing activity with us, while using the hashtag #ErinsHomeErinsSafe. I encourage you to also share your own favourite activity and be sure to tag the Town.
News Release: County of Wellington Offering Leaf and Yard Waste Interim Collection

In an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, the County of Wellington has cancelled all upcoming Green Legacy Municipal Tree Day events. The Green Legacy will alternatively be offering a contact-free home delivery service of tree orders across the County. Residents who have already placed tree orders will be contacted by Green Legacy staff over the next few days and provided with further delivery information. County residents who have not yet ordered
trees, will be able to place orders online at www.greenlegacy.ca until April 30, 2020. Trees are
available on a first-come, first-served basis.

As of April 4, 2020, Ontario updated the list of essential businesses that can remain open. The restrictions are aimed at further reducing contact between people and stopping the spread of COVID-19.

The Town of Erin is working to ensure residents and businesses are able to access municipal services, while ensuring we are doing everything we can to reduce the spread of COVID-19. In response to the updated list of non-essential services, the Town will only be booking site inspections for projects with permits issued prior to April 4, 2020.
Building:
Building, pool and sign permit applications are still being accepted, processed and permits will continue to be issued. All documents can be emailed to building@erin.ca in PDF. format.
Construction may not take place on any sites that are considered to be non-essential construction as per the provincial order. Site inspections will continue to be performed on Tuesday and Thursday mornings ONLY for projects with permits issued prior to April 4, 2020. User Pay garbage bags are available through many local retailers including: grocery stores, pharmacies, and hardware stores. These businesses remain open as they are an essential service. The County is also offering a temporary home delivery service for User Pay garbage bags. To access this temporary home delivery service, an online ordering and payment process is available at www.wellington.ca/wasteinfo.
Residents unable to access this service online can call 519.837.2601 and arrangements will be made.

At a Special County Council today, County Council entered into a partnership with local Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDC) to deliver their

In response to the rapidly changing COVID-19 pandemic, the Town of Erin has declared a State of Emergency, as of today. This declaration, allows the Town to access additional financial and other resources as needed.
The decision to declare a state of emergency was made in consultation with the County of Wellington and fellow member municipalities.
During this time, it is important to remember not to panic, and to continue to do your part in keep our community safe. Limit your contact with other people, stay home – unless for essential needs and wash your hands regularly. Reach out to your neighbours and offer a helping hand, let’s continue to be the amazing community we are, even during these difficult and confusing times.
News Release: The County and All Seven Member Municipalities Declare Emergencies
WELLINGTON COUNTY, ON – Today, at 2:00 pm, The County of Wellington and all seven of its member municipalities declared emergencies in accordance with the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, 1990, as a result of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
The declaration was made for the following reasons:
- A declaration of emergency provides the Head of Council the authority to take actions or make orders, which are not contrary to law, in order to protect the inhabitants in the area of the emergency;
- If volunteers are being employed by the municipality in support of the emergency, it can provide those volunteers with WSIB protection; or
- It can demonstrate to their residents that the municipality is taking the current situation very seriously, and is taking every step that they can to protect them from the threat.
“This afternoon, the County of Wellington and all seven Mayors made the mutual decision to declare emergencies in response to the COVID-19 global pandemic,” said Warden Kelly Linton. “With the recent confirmation of a COVID-19 case in the County, and evidence that the virus is circulating unknowingly within our community, we are taking this public health situation seriously. We need to make some difficult decisions moving forward to continue to effectively and efficiently respond to the situation in all of our municipalities. The health and safety of all of our residents is our top priority.”

With the growing health concerns, and out of an abundance of caution, all municipal facilities, including Town Hall and recreational facilities will be closed to public access effective 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 17th, 2020 until Monday, April 6th, 2020. With the public closure of Town Hall, we have made the decision to cancel the Regular Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 17th, 2020, Committee of Adjustment meetings and all scheduled committee meetings between March 17th and April 6th.
Although meetings have been cancelled, elected officials and staff are still hard at work and will continue to provide service excellence to the community. The Town will continue to operate municipal services as usual.
Please be advised, in an effort to provide convenience, while continuing to ensure the safety of residents and staff, the Town of Erin will waive the interest and late penalty fees on the March 31st Tax Bills for one month. Tax and water payments can be paid online or through the Town's Pre-Authorize Payment Plan , by paying through e-transfer by emailing the payment to epayments@erin.ca, or by dropping off payment at the Town's 24/7 secure drop box, located at the front door at Town Hall. Burn-permits and dog tags can be obtained online, building and planning documents can be submitted via email at building@erin.ca or planning@erin.ca and all other inquires can be made by emailing communications@erin.ca or by calling 519.855.4407.

As COVID-19 continues to spread and Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health warns against large gatherings of people, the Town of Erin has made the decision to close all recreation facilities as of
6:00p.m. today, Saturday, March 14, 2020, until further notice. All recreation drop-in programs, services and rentals are cancelled at Erin Community Centre, Hillsburgh Community Centre and Ballinafad Community Centre.

The Town of Erin has implemented proactive measures as a precaution to limit further transmission of the Coronavirus, also know as COVID-19.
Actions taken to date by the Town of Erin
- The Town has proactively increased the cleaning and disinfection of common contact points such as; door handles, customer service counters, handrail, etc.
- Informative posters have been posted at Town facilities to inform both the public and staff about steps to take to reduce the likelihood of virus transmission.
- The Town has increased Healthy Hands stations (alcohol-based hand sanitizers) in our facilities.
- Face masks have been made available upon entering Town Hall and other Town facilities.
- The Town of Erin has closed all municipal recreation facilities as of March 14, 2020 at 6:00 PM
